Hyundai will build a new electric light commercial vehicle for the Iveco Group, based on Hyundai’s new all-electric Light Commercial Vehicle (eLCV) platform.

Hyundai will manufacture and supply the chassis cab, and Iveco will customize and distribute the complete vehicles to the European market through its local sales channels.

The Iveco-badged e-van will join Iveco’s electric light commercial vehicle lineup. It’s seen as a competitor for Ford’s E-Transit and Stellantis’s commercial electric vans in Europe.

The new EV will be the first export model to apply Hyundai’s eLCV platform, a dedicated global platform made for commercial vehicles ranging from GVW 2.5 tons to 3.5 tons. The platform features a low-floor design that allows enhanced usability for cargo loading.

The new e-van will be launched at this September’s IAA Transportation trade show in Germany.

“The introduction of this new all-electric vehicle is particularly exciting for the European market, where urban and suburban distribution and delivery are crucial missions for logistics operators,” said Luca Sra, President, Truck Business Unit, Iveco Group. “We are confident that this agreement will not only strengthen our product offering but will also deepen our relationship with Hyundai.”
